It's 3am, the phone rings and ...

... I'm at work! I don't believe I just woke up to do an interview in the middle of the night -- without an alarm either!! And up again at 4 plus for work.

Let's hope one day someone will appreciate my dedication!! One day ...

Believe it and it shall happen

Or so my friend tells me. So here's my attempt at positive thinking, projection or whatever it is you call it.

Heard this song on the new Qantas Frequent Flyer ad. Delta Goodrem's song In This Life. Can't embed the video here, so here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzUNOvj8EVE

and here's the lyrics:

I was nurtured
I was sheltered,
I was curious and young.
I was searchin for that something,
Tryin to find it on the run.
Oh and just when I stopped lookin,
I saw just how far I'd come.
In this liiiiife...
In this liiiiife...

You give me love,
You give me light,
Show me everythings been happenin,
I've opened up my eyes,
I'm followin
3 steps fight an honest fight, (oooh)
2 hearts, they can start a fire, (yeah yeah)
1 love is all I need in this liiiife...(oh)

Yeahhh...Yeahhh...Yeah Yeah...
In this life
Ohhh...Whoahhh...Whoa Whoa

I have faltered
I have stumbled,
I have found my feet again.
I've been angry,
And I've been shaken,
Found a new place to begin.
And my persistance to make a difference,
Has led me safe into your hands.
In this liiiiife...
In this liiiiife...

You give me love,
You give me light,
Show me everythings been happenin,
I've opened up my eyes,
I'm followin
3 steps fight an honest fight, (oooh)
2 hearts, they can start a fire, (yeah yeah)
1 love is all I need in this liiiife...(Oh)

Ohh..Whoahhhh...Whoa Whoa
In this life
Yeah...Yeah...Yeah Yeah

I was put here for a reason,
I was born into this world.
And I'm living, and I'm believing
That I was meant to be your girl...

In this liiiiife....
In this liiiiife....

You give me love,
You give me light,
Show me everythings been happenin,
I've opened up my eyes,
I'm followin
3 steps fight an honest fight, (oooh)
2 hearts, they can start a fire, (yeah yeah)
1 love is all I need in this liiiife...(Oh)

3 steps fight an honest fight (oooh)
2 hearts, they can start a fire (yeah yeah)
1 love is all I need
In this liiiiife (oh)

Yeah...Yeah....yeah yeah
In this life
Yeah...Yeah....yeah yeah
In this life
Ohhh...Whoahhh...whoa whoa
In this life
Yeah...Yeah...yeah yeah...

The bat's back

Ok, before you start yabbering about the fact that it's no surprise that I like dark things, I would put to you that it's the human story that defines Batman. One of revenge, loss and hope mixed with fear and anger. Too negative? Not at all I say.

Anyway, enuff of my bollocks ramblings. I'm excited about the new Batman movie The Dark Knight. I have to admit that initially I wasn't quite sure whether I would be able to watch the movie after the death of Heath Ledger. Working where I work, I spent many days working on stuff related to his death, and having known some of his school mates, I felt the loss more keenly than some, I suppose.

It's true in a way what Stalin infamously said: One death is a tragedy. One million deaths is a statistic. Millions are dying in conflicts, in health epidemics and natural disasters all over the world, but here we are as a consumerish, celebrity-obsessed society dwelling on the death of one Aussie party boy, if the tabloids are to be believed.

But I digress. I was a fan of the first Batman series, but pretty much lost interest after watching the very disappointing Batman Forever. Though I'm a big fan of Christian Bale, I wasn't too sure if reviving the series was going to work. But it did and it really did show that a so-called Hollywoody popcorn comic book series type book can be good if its get a great director (Christopher Nolan) and a talented and dedicated set of actors (Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Michael Caine etc).

Anyway, here's a quote about why Bale likes playing Batman:

"Dark characters tend to attract more attention because they're more intriguing. We're interested in people who break the rules of civilised society because that side of us is in all of us, that shadow side."

Indeed.

And of course, here's the trailer:

Enjoy the movie ...

Low Morale: Creep by Radiohead and Laith Bahrani

Just because I love this song. Great animation!

Description from the Mediastorm website:
Low Morale: Creep is a music video of Radiohead's 'Creep' song. It took 3 months to create and contains over one million key frames. I know this because I counted them. I counted them because I made the animation and delivered every one of those mewling baby key frames.

Creep was created as an extension to a series of shorts called 'Low Morale' which I began to develop during a well-paid, comfortable yet soul-destroying job as a senior designer in a multimedia agency. The countless days spent in the run down converted office, churning out banal multimedia and animation for faceless, lifeless, clueless blue chips had taken their toll on my soul. Creep became my creative escape tunnel.

The video actually started as a lip-syncing experiment with the central Low Morale character but rapidly grew into a cathartic opus that aimed to reflect my job dissatisfaction and the pain caused by a broken relationship. As I'm sure you'll glean from the video, they were indeed happy days.

Lyrics:
When you were here before,
couldn't look you in the eye
You're just like an angel,
your skin makes me cry

You float like a feather
In a beautiful world
I wish I was special
You're so very special

But I'm a creep,
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doin here?
I don't belong here

I don't care if it hurts,
I wanna have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul

I want you to notice
when I'm not around
You're so very special
I wish I was special

But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doin here?
I don't belong here, ohhhh, ohhhh

She's running out the door...
She's running out
she runs, runs, runs, runs...
runs...

Whatever makes you happy
Whatever you want
You're so very special
I wish I was special

But I'm a creep,
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doin here?
I don't belong here

I don't belong here...

Our time is running out

Just thought, since it's all about goodbyes at the moment, here's a song I haven't heard for years!!! Not since I first heard it on, of all places, an Alias fanvid ...

So here's Muse with Our time is running out:

Another goodbye

So here we go - another goodbye again! It's funny about living in Sydney, people seem so transient, just changing cities every few years. Guess it's the nature of the place.

I'm not too sure how to farewell this person, except that I think I'm going to miss him a lot - he was a good colleague, perhaps even a friend? It's hard to say if we were really friends but he really gave me the time of day (as he does with everyone) and lotsa of great career advice and I honestly dunno how I'm gonna get used to not having him about in the office.

It's funny, perhaps I will miss him even more than my ex when he left last year - in a way, he was patient with me in a way other people have not been, and totally as a colleague, nothing more. As another colleague said yesterday about him, what you see is what you get ...

So goodbye, and best of luck - and I might be knocking on your door very soon for a job!

Here's a music video, totally not relevant but it just happened to pop into my head when I was doing up that page for you:

Africa??? Which country?

Pakistan

India

Ireland

United States - New York
